Jeneka Gong’s career is a shining example of her commitment to promoting equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous reconciliation. With a rich heritage that includes Chinese, Indigenous, and European roots, she is a member of the Nooksack Indian Tribe and has Squamish Nation ancestry.
Her academic achievements include an Honours BA from McMaster University, an HR Graduate Certificate from Mohawk College, and a Master's degree in Public Policy and Administration from Toronto Metropolitan University, all of which have equipped her to tackle complex problems and drive systemic transformation.
Jeneka has worked in both the public sector and the corporate world, concentrating on integrating equity, diversity, and inclusion into policies, programs, and systems. She has played a pivotal role in implementing an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion strategic plan and served as a Workplace Equity Officer with the Federal Government, making notable contributions at the systemic level. Her leadership was also evident during her tenure at a global bank, where she spearheaded an Indigenous Employee Resource Group (ERG), advancing Indigenous reconciliation and fostering a sense of belonging in a corporate setting. Furthermore, Jeneka serves as the Vice Chair of De dwa da dehs nye> Hamilton’s Aboriginal Health Centre, reflecting her dedication to Indigenous health and her commitment to giving back to her community.
Beyond her DEI work, Jeneka has extensive experience in risk management, compliance, and policy development, ensuring that organizational and legal standards are met. Her expertise across various sectors makes her a versatile leader and a strong advocate for inclusive change.
